iaeoi | Monday, May 14, 2012

FYI. Space8Studios is the studio we’ve been renting out since November. Our current recording project is the Full-Blooded Mutt EP, tentatively titled “War is Coming”. We’re located out of the band studios in beautiful, sunny Framingham, MA. That is all.

Links Links Link

iaeoi | Thursday, May 10, 2012

Sorry, the last round of website updates is taking forever. I must be posting over a hundred links to MassBands.org. The procedure can be quite tedious, but rewarding. Every link I post here, I generally mirror in my browser bookmarks. It makes life easier from a programming aspect. Hopefully I’ll have everything up by tomorrow, if not tonight! Rock on!

MassBands.org Website Updates

iaeoi | Tuesday, May 1, 2012

Hey now all, I’ve made some updates to the MassBands Theme website design. I thought it looked more ominous with the red and black theme and Impact Headline font. I’ve added a couple more items to the menu, swapped the sidebar around and changed a few items on the same sidebar. I’ve still got to do some more work to the site this week. Onward! Epic weekend, still recovering. Woot woot!

Friday, April 27th and Saturday, April 28th – Double Down Tour!

iaeoi | Sunday, April 22, 2012

Have we got a weekend coming up for you! Bring on the double down tour! First stop, Friday night in Brighton, at the most awesome Magic Room at 155 North Beacon Street. Full-Blooded Mutt will be opening for Mother Ton and the always incredible Manifest. I’ve been dying to get in to the Magic Room since I first seen a show their last year. Not only do they have a super high-tech lighting system -which I hear will be running- there’s also a backdrop to project movies on. This is gonna be a rockin’ time for all!

The following night on Saturday, the 28th, come on down to The Tavern in Framingham, MA. The most super doom rock/stoner rock band, Problem with Dragons, will be starting the night off with a set that is sure to melt faces! Following them will be Manifest, to belt out some rocking tunes at 10PM. Then after that, Dylan and me are gonna rock the house with Full-Blooded Mutt -hopefully he survives the previous evening and doesn’t spontaneously combust. Finally to close out the evening will be the ever-loving ever-rioting Slobbies with their brand of Slob rock.

Recording Techniques

iaeoi | Monday, March 12, 2012

I’m psyched to have a studio to record music in finally! What a change from “apartment recording”, I can actually bring everything to full volume! Sweet! Practicing late at night has it’s bonuses too. As Full-Blooded Mutt‘s recording session flies along, I would like to share some of the new recording techniques I’ve mastered. Now keep in my mind our studio set-up is a might lo-fi compared to high-end studios. Short of upgrading our sound card/interface a few hundred dollars, we are recording with two channels on to twenty-four or more tracks. Keep in mind, The Beatles recorded the Sgt. Peppers album on a four track. They just never said how many four tracks they used. In recording, I’ve always preferred to be at the limits of my audio gear, rather than have a ton of gear I barely know how to use! (more…)

WebUpdate, Links, New Domains

iaeoi | Tuesday, March 6, 2012

Check out MassBands.org’s links page. Links by the tonnage have been added! I must have typed over a thousands lines of HTML, PHP and CSS today. There is still one more task that needs to be completed on this website, for the day. The download page’s links are out of sync with “My Production Folder Backup”. Since the files names were too long, it created absolute chaos during my last system backup -they wouldn’t transfer across my house network. The files in the folder had already been renamed with that taken into account, but not the files in my “www” folder. The “www” folder being the folder I store all my websites offline, on my computer.  So basically, I have to re-type out all the links for Full-Blooded Mutt’s downloads, and re-upload the files with the new naming scheme. That shouldn’t take long right? Probably an hour -maybe more.

Also, I’ve added two more domains to the 1and1 server that all this runs on. Space8Studios.net for the new studio that I have been practicing and recording in; and WraithHiveShip.com, is a new Stargate fan page purchased for a friend. Right now, Space8Studios.net has only a few pictures for content but it is hosting our audio recording mix downs of the day, for Full-Blooded Mutt, behind a firewall. As I hope to get other people into the studio to record and use the same system in the future. Still, though, that is a ways away.

How many websites use the “mass” prefix, let me count the ways. One, two, three… :)

New Domain: Massbands.org

iaeoi | Sunday, February 5, 2012

I’ve just purchased Massbands.org from my hosting provider, 1and1 Internet (great company by the way!). I’m psyched to finally have secured all three MassBands domains (.com, .net and now .org). I plan on using the “massbands.org” moniker as the main reference for this website in the future. (more…)

CD Review: Love & Opium

Website Updates | New Featured Act

iaeoi | Wednesday, January 11, 2012

Hola, people! This site has been redesigned again. I’ve adapted my previous design into a wordpress theme. Now, you’ll notice the blog is fully incorporated into the website. Well, at least everything except for the comment section. The comment section will be down untill I can get a better grasp on this wordpress PHP coding. Before, every time you would click on an article to read it, it would go over to the black and white WordPress template. Well, not any more! I still have to get all the plugins back in place, or whatever I had set up before.

Website Update II

iaeoi | Wednesday, December 21, 2011

I’ve updated some of the website programming, fixed a few dead links, fixed the download page and also put that same page into a “shuffle” mode. Each time you load the download page now, the artist downloads listing will shuffle. Also, I fixed up the downloads .zip files. Each zip file of MP3s now includes an HTML document with links to all the bands who have contributed MP3s to download. I hope some of you out there will consider putting forth your live recordings for free download, if you would just like to add a back link to your website/file hosting service, that would be fine. According to Archive.org most bands allow their live music to be traded freely. I would like to offer the same.

iaeoi | Wednesday, December 14, 2011

MassBands.net is the home of good local Northeast US music. If your in a band or act and would like to be featured on our site send me an email at admin@MassBands.net. I’m hoping to get a lot of the bands featured on some upcoming shows. We will be putting on some shows in 2012 and wanna get everyone aboard. Also, if you are a club or venue and need some dates filled send me an email. We usually like to take a whole night or two and book ‘em. Check out our links page for local band and club listings, also our full site at http://www.MassBands.net/ for band links and info. Hope everyone is having a good day, and happy holidays!

Website Redesign | MassBands v4.0

iaeoi | Friday, November 11, 2011

I’ve just posted yet another web-site redesign of MassBands.net. I hope you all like the new layout. It’s been simplified a lot from the previous version. I thought the last version was too cumbersome. Now everything’s front and center, at the top. If you would like to compare the new version to the previous version, just click here.  It’s now easier to migrate over previous content using PHP scripting. I realize the last update was only published a few months ago, but I’ld like to keep it fresh. One of the newest features I’ve added is a “shuffle()” script that allows all bands to appear in random/shuffled order. This happens every time you go to the page or hit the “refresh” button. Check it out. In addition to bands appearing in random order; every page load, video, media player and picture gallery will also change their order when you click refresh/land on the page.

New Featured Artists | Website Updates

iaeoi | Wednesday, October 12, 2011

I’m working on yet another re-design of the MassBands.net site. From this point on, you can check out all “staged” re-designs-in-progress by adding the sub-domain “v2.” before MassBands.net or any MassBands created site(that has a newer version in the works). I’m hoping to get more input on how things look and work around here. It would be nice to maybe eventually turn this into a “.org” site, more community/consensus driven. Until then, I’ll be your administrator, please keep your trays in the upright/locked position; hope you enjoy the show….

New Featured Artists Posted

iaeoi | Wednesday, October 5, 2011

I’ve just posted some new links for three local acts on MassBands.Net. Slowly but surely, I’m starting to feature more local area acts. My goal with this website is to be your one-stop-shop for the most awesome sounding, professional local rock, folk and rap acts in the Northeast US area; a linking directory and a message board. I don’t intend this to be a “sign up make a profile site”, I’m hoping to keep it more selective than that, and much less cluttered. Anyways…

Review: 2011 Fallout Festival in Shrewsbury, MA

iaeoi | Monday, October 3, 2011

Greetings and salutations, readers. We all had a great weekend at the Fallout Festival in Shrewsbury, MA. The rain kept some people away, but all in all it was a great time. Our buddies in You Will Learn recorded some video of us (FBM), so I’m looking forward to checking those out and re-posting them. We had a couple acts drop at the last minute; but with nine acts originally booked, we still had a day full of music, BMX, motorbikes, break-dancing, graffiti walls and MC battling. Tons of fun! It’s was great to see a lot of familiar faces from the past.

Review: Boss Harmonist PS-6

iaeoi | Monday, August 8, 2011

The Boss Harmonist PS-6 is one of the sickest -kapow!- guitar effect pedals around! Ironically enough, when I first got it; I thought it was broken -not by a long shot. It was just in “S-Mode”. These guitar pedals are more rugged then any others I’ve used. Boss is a standard any touring musician should aspire too. I’ve used many other guitar pedals, but when it comes to live performance, Boss is a brand to be trusted. Weather it’s ungrounded electrical outlets, or the high amps most clubs suffer from multiple electronic components being plugged in; the Boss Harmonist PS-6 will survive! Urly!
